ABOUT
OUR PROGRAM
PLAYER INFORMATION All players will be issued the following gear on Equipment Day: shoulder
pads, a helmet, a mouth guard, 3rd - 6th graders receive pants with built-in
pads and belts, 7th and 8th graders receive pants, girdles, pads and belts.
All equipment issued other then the mouth guards must be returned to the
CYF program, this will happen immediately following the last game of the
season. If your player were to quit for some reason before the end of
the season please return the equipment to the players coach, he will turn
it into the League and mark it as returned on his roster. Players are
responsible for their own cleats (football, soccer, or baseball are acceptable).
Players must also provide their own practice jersey (an adult XL T-shirt
works perfect for this). If you have old cleats your player has outgrown
and would like to possibly swap them for a larger pair bring them on Equipment
Day and you are welcome to “trade up” for a larger size if
we have a pair that works, first come first serve. We will also accept
donations of old cleats for players without the means to get a pair. After registration is complete (usually Equipment Day) your coach will
call you with information regarding practice times and practice field
location. Except when otherwise stated, all practices will take place
at Century High School. You can expect 3rd – 6th graders to have
two to three practices a week before games start and then one or two practices
a week after that. All 7th and 8th graders will practice 3 to 4 days a
week. Game schedules will be posted as soon as available, plan for some
weeknight and Saturday games. Home games will be at Century High School,
all others will be at the respective host team’s field. We believe player development is the key in building a strong program.
We want all players to come back and play again each season. Our high
school coaches believe in starting with the basics of football and progressing
to a more comprehensive football program. Like the area baseball programs
we progress at each level to a larger field. We begin our 3rd and 4th
grade players on a smaller field with 8 players. This allows players to
learn proper techniques in tackling, running the ball, throwing the ball
and basic Century football plays. As the player advances to the 5th and
6th grade they move to a larger field and 11 players. They continue to
work on plays taught in the 3rd and 4th grade plus advance to new plays
and learn the techniques and skills of each position. Once they advance
to the 7th and 8th grade they play on a full size field and follow high
school football rules. We are very proud of the program we have built within the Century community.
Quality football equipment is important for the safety of our players
and we pride ourselves in ensuring we have the best for our kids. Fundraising
is an important aspect of any program, especially when trying to keep
costs to a minimum. We will respectfully ask every family to participate
in the fundraising efforts of the program to ensure we have what we need
for our kids. If you are interested in assisting with any of the many volunteer opportunities
we have and being part of Century football community, please feel free
to contact any one of the board members and we will find a spot for you.
We look forward to seeing you this season! |
