COACHES NEEDED! Being a football coach is a very rewarding and challenging opportunity!
It is also an excellent way to give back to our community and our youth
by being a role model in their lives. We are looking for qualified coach
candidates whether they have a child in our program or not. All head and
assistant coaches selected must have a background check. If you are interested
in coaching please review the details below that lists events that you
will be required to attend. Please e-mail us (select Contact Us on the
home page of this web site) if you are interested in taking on the role
of a Head Coach or Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. Century High School Head Football Varsity Coach Bill Smith and his staff
will conduct a comprehensive clinic. This clinic will help you understand
our program expectations, philosophy, our base offense and defense strategies,
daily drills and fundamentals. You will receive a booklet that includes
plays for specific age groups along with a DVD to see the plays being
executed. There is also a second meeting the following evening with the
other youth football organizations in the Pacific Youth Football League,
rules and schedules will be discussed. All coaches who attend both meetings
receive special gifts from Coach Smith. We will be holding an informational meeting for all coaches prior to
practices. This meeting will cover what to expect and how to prepare for
the upcoming season. We will also give you some information on ways to
organize practice and how to deal with issues as they come up throughout
the season. We will also discuss the Pacific Youth Football League and
what benefits we receive by being a part of it. Friday Night Lights!!! This night is all about our youth football program
and is held in conjunction with a Century Varsity Football team home game
at the Hillsboro Stadium. As a coach, it will be your job to get your
team to this incredible night. You will need to sit with them in a specified
area and then during half time you will take your team onto the field
and play a team scrimmage game for the audience to watch. Each player
will have his name announced over the PA during this time. When half time
is over all the players will gather in the end zone and greet the Varsity
team back onto the field! Coach Smith will then muster all the players
Varsity and youth alike and instruct them to line-up across the entire
football field and do the “Jumping JAGS”. Urge your player
families to attend as well and bring their cameras and camcorders, as
this is a memorable event! Gear turn in. All coaches are responsible for your players and their
gear and will assist the football board members on getting all issued
gear back from their players. This must happen immediately following your
last game. If a player were to quit for some reason before the end of
the season the coach must get the equipment from the player and turn it
into the League and mark it as returned on his team roster. Note: The scheduling is TBD for all of the above events, so keep checking
back to this website for specific dates and times. |
